Welcome to
Tracy Unified School District, a progressive
school district that challenges our students to
reach their fullest potential. Our staff strives
to prepare students to become the leaders of
tomorrow and develop a love of lifelong
learning.
Many positive elements are combined to enable
Tracy Unified to provide its K-12 students a
high-quality learning experience:
Safe, Caring Schools
Safe, positive, caring school environments are
essential to learning. Tracy Unified strives to
provide physically and emotionally safe school
environments. Programs that support creating
positive school environments include the
Character Counts program, service learning
programs, tolerance education and the block
letter program for community service at our high
schools.
Quality Curriculum, Talented Teachers
Tracy Unified is a district of choice, offering
families many different learning opportunities.
Families can attend their neighborhood school or
consider a variety of magnet programs at the
elementary level and several academies at the
high school level, including the award-winning
Space and Engineering Academy,
Agricultural-Scientific Academy, International
Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement academies.
Our district continues implementation of new,
rigorous high school graduation requirements;
new curriculum; and quality summer school,
intersession and enrichment programs for
students.
Tracy Unified typically hires more than 100
teachers each year to meet the needs of our
district. Teachers new to our district
participate in a mandatory training program to
learn our district’s curriculum and hone their
skills. We believe that developing powerful
educational leaders in our schools is directly
linked to a powerful staff development program.
Our district offers teachers a variety of
support programs to help them reach their
greatest potential as educators in order to give
our students the best possible learning
experience.
Integrated Technology
Technology plays an important role in our
classrooms as teachers prepare students for
careers in the 21st century. All schools and
classrooms in our district are connected to the
Internet, and our high schools are participants
in the state’s Digital High Schools program. Our
technology department is constantly working to
help teachers integrate technology into their
instructional delivery in the classroom.
Community Support
Tracy prides itself on being a child-centered
community, and examples of this dedicated
support are best displayed in our schools. Tracy
Unified enjoys long-standing partnerships with
local businesses, service clubs, and non-profit
organizations.
Tracy Chamber of Commerce supports local
education in a variety of ways, including
sponsorship of the annual New Educators'
Luncheon and the Tracy Industry-Education
Partnership, a collaborative that provides
school-to-career programs for high school
students. The Tracy Hospital Foundation sponsors
the CPR For Kids program that teaches
life-saving techniques to all students in our
district in grades 3, 7 and 9.
Service
clubs are also constantly working in support of
our students. For the past few years, Tracy
Kiwanis Club has sponsored the D.A.R.E. (Drug
Awareness and Resistance Education) program in
our schools. The Tracy Sunrise Rotary Club
recently began their "Kids Who Read Succeed"
fundraiser during their Annual Shrimp Feed.
Last year they generously donated $17,500 from
the event to literacy programs at our K-5
schools. These examples are a small sample of
the many, many ways our community supports its
students and schools.
Tracy Unified is very proud of its dynamic team
of educators, its outstanding students, and its
caring community. We invite you to get involved
with our schools and district. By working
together with unity of purpose, we’ll prepare
our students to be the successful, responsible
leaders of the future.
