AN INVITATION TO APPLY:

  K-8  YRE Elementary School Principal

THE COMMUNITY:

Tracy is a growing community with traditional values and is justifiably proud of its heritage.  New citizens are drawn to our community because Tracy offers a quality lifestyle; affordable housing; and a convenient location to the Bay Area, Delta waterways, and the Sierra Mountains.  Several colleges and universities are easily accessible to those who live in and around the Tracy area.

THE DISTRICT:

Currently, the Tracy Unified School District is comprised of two comprehensive high schools, two alternative education high schools, one adult school, one community school, two middle schools, four K-8 schools and nine K-5 elementary schools.

At this time, three of our K-8 sites operate on a YRE schedule.

The $51 million school bond, Measure E, was passed by voters in 2006.  With bond funds and state funds, high school renovation projects are underway at both high schools. Projects include the construction of a new 40-classroom building, stadium, swimming pool, teaching theatre and permanent classrooms.  In August 2009, the District will add a third comprehensive high school, John C. Kimball High School.  At present, the District serves approximately 17,000 students. Tracy Unified is known for its comprehensive staff development programs and excellent new teacher support systems.

The Principal provides a varied and diverse level of leadership to the school. He/she supervises and evaluates the performance of all site personnel, performs a leadership role in staff development, monitors and implements school discipline procedures, manages and maintains a fiscally sound budget, is the educational leader of the school, and is responsible for establishing and maintaining open communication with the school community.  In addition, the principal is responsible for the accountability of the school’s computerized attendance system.

GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY:

Tracy has a history of consistent growth and expansion which has leveled off somewhat in recent years.   This position provides an outstanding opportunity for promotional opportunities within the District.  This is a unique opportunity to apply acquired skills to plan, develop and implement a school program that will accurately reflect the excellence in education currently provided by the Tracy Unified School District.
