Bussing

Please read below for information on bussing.  For bus routes or any additional questions, please contact the Transportation Department's Direct Line at (209) 830-3216.

 

Student Bus Pass Purchase Information

 

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY

The following students are eligible for transportation:

1. Students are eligible for transportation from designated bus stops with the appropriate bus pass application on file. Students must carry bus passes at all times.

2. Special Education students with IEPs requiring transportation.

The basic cost is $.75 per day, with the following adjustments:

PAYMENT INFORMATION

  • Bus passes must be purchased PRIOR to use of the transportation system.

  • Applications and payments must be made to the Transportation Office by mail or in person.

  • Payment may be made by check, cash or money order.

  • There will be a $25 charge for any items returned by the bank.

LOST PASSES

A replacement pass will be issued ONLY after the parent submits an application for a replacement pass. Replacement applications are available in the Transportation Department. The charge for a replacement pass is $5.

 

REFUNDS

Prorated refunds will be made by check, only after the parent submits a refund application and only for the reasons stated below:

a. Students who subsequently become eligible for free or reduced-cost transportation.

b. Students moving out of the District (Continued on back page)

c. Students who have paid to use the system but will not be using the system for a period equal to or more than 1 semester due to injury or serious illness. The bus pass must be returned along with a letter requesting a refund.

 

STUDENT BEHAVIOR AND DISCIPLINE

All existing policies and rules regarding safety, student behavior and discipline on school buses will remain in effect. Please review the bus riding rules with your student.

 

With your help, and the cooperation of all student passengers, we will be able to provide safe transportation. Students may be given immediate suspension from the bus, depending upon the severity of the student’s actions.

 

No refund will be given if student-riding privileges are suspended due to behavior problems.

 

AUTHORITY OF THE DRIVER

Pupils transported in a school bus or in a school pupil activity bus shall be under the authority of, and responsible to, the driver of the bus. The driver shall be held responsible for the orderly conduct of the pupils while they are on in the bus or being escorted across a street, highway or road. Continued disorderly conduct or persistent refusal to submit to the authority of the driver shall be sufficient reason for a pupil to be denied transportation. A bus driver shall not require any pupil to leave the bus enroute between home and school or other destinations (Title 5, California Code of Regulations, Section 14103).

 

FREE TRANSPORTATION

The following students are eligible for free transportation:

a. Special Education student with IEP specifying transportation.

b. Students displaced for District programs or capacity reasons.

c. Students whose family income is at or below the “Free Eligibility” scale (scale available in the Transportation Department).

NOTE: Application and pass are required for free transportation.

 

PRESENTING PASSES

Students will be required to present a bus pass each time they board the bus. Students not presenting a bus pass will be issued a Warning Notice.

 

CONSEQUENCES FOR NO BUS PASS UPON BOARDING:

1st Offense – Written warning given to student by driver.

2nd Offense – Parent notified by phone and written warning given to student.

3rd Offense – Parent notified by phone and mail. Written warning given to student.

4th Offense – Student will be DENIED transportation for the remainder of the current semester after parent has been notified by phone and mail.

 

No refunds will be given if student reaches his/her 4th Offense.
