Each year our district and our schools develop
plans with goals and targets to maintain and
improve in all areas of the scholastic
atmosphere. This year, we also have two specific
targets for student and district success
relating to our Program Improvement status.
You may be aware our district was named a
Program Improvement (PI) District during the
2004-2005 school year. Since being named a PI
District, we have developed these two targets on
which to focus for our upcoming school year.
Accomplishing these targets increases student
achievement and success and also can lead to us
exiting PI status.
The two targets our district, our schools and
our school community will focus on during the
2007-2008 school year are:
-
Target 1: By June of 2008 35% or more of all
students will demonstrate grade
level/subject matter proficiency as measured
by appropriate state tests. Schools that
exceed 35% (and there are many) will
demonstrate a growth of five percentage
points annually.
-
Target 2: 100% of students will meet or
exceed graduation requirements by completing
one of the four following programs:
Pass California High School Exit
Exam
Pass Algebra/IMP
Complete Subject Matter
Requirements
Complete program
as defined by IEP
Periodically throughout the year your school
site and the district will be communicating to
you about how you can help join our campaign to
consistently and exponentially produce success
through these “26/5 + 100 = Success” targets. We
encourage all parents to be actively involved in
their students’ academic careers through
valuable participation in and out of the
classroom. Whether at the elementary or the high
school level, each parent can assist our
district in realizing these two targets.
If you have any questions, please feel free to
call your school to find out how you can become
involved in these achievement efforts.
