As a learning
community, Tracy
Unified School
District strives
to create a
caring,
challenging and
inclusive
education
environment that
offers every
student the
opportunity to
achieve his or
her potential.
The district has
clearly defined
its grade-level
standards so
students,
parents and
teachers alike
easily
understand the
expectations
students must
meet to progress
from one grade
to the next.
Our documents
defining
grade-level
standards
provide an
overview of the
academic
standards a
student in our
district is to
meet at a
particular grade
level. At each
grade level, a
student should
meet the
standards for
all previous
grades.
Grade-level
standards apply
to grades K-8.
High school
graduation
requirements
define the
standards
students in
grades 9-12 must
meet to receive
a high school
diploma. More
information
about high
school
graduation
requirements
also is
available on
this web site.
All schools in
our district
share a common
core curriculum
that includes
integration of
technology and
development of
critical
thinking skills.
Our district
curriculum and
standards were
designed to meet
or exceed the
important
curriculum
standards
established by
the State of
California. When
district
textbooks and
other teaching
materials are
selected for
students, we
take care to
make sure the
textbooks and
materials align
with state and
district
standards. We
also
consistently
assess student
achievement to
monitor every
student’s
progress towards
meeting district
standards and to
review our
curriculum to
maximize its
effectiveness.
By knowing the
grade-level
standards,
parents are
better equipped
to take an
active role in
their student’s
education.
Parents can use
this information
to do activities
at home that
reinforce the
skills teachers
are helping
students develop
in the
classroom. As
reading is the
foundation for
learning,
reading
regularly with a
child at home is
the best
activity a
parent can do to
aid a student’s
achievement of
any grade-level
standard.
Through a strong
partnership
between home and
school, students
develop a
lifelong love of
learning and are
encouraged to
give school
their best
effort every
day.
